Mycophenolic Acid
Mycophenolic acid (MPA) is a potent, selective, uncompetitive, and reversible inhibitor of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH), and therefore inhibits the de novo pathway of guanosine nucleotide synthesis without incorporation to DNA. Inhibition of IMPDH leads to selective inhibition of B and T lymphocyte cell types. Mycophenolic acid is available in two formulations: mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) and enteric-coated mycophenolate sodium (MPS).
Therapeutic use
Mycophenolate acid (MPA) is the active immunosuppressive substance in mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) and mycophenolate sodium (MPS).
